Been a while…
Thought I should note that this week the ovals at Balmoral Park had light towers installed. It’s going to look great on those cold winter nights as you’ll be able to see those lights shining through the fog when you’re driving pretty much anywhere in Derrimut.

It’s back and strong tonight, if you smell it, or you did last night, call the EPA and let them know.

Chatting to a few locals recently and we’ve all commented on that odd smell we seem to get whenever it is a still evening. Andrew has been proactive and actually been calling the EPA and has suggested that we all start doing the same so we can find out exactly what is causing the odour and have it fixed.
A quick glance at the epa web site (www.epa.vic.gov.au) shows the pollution watch line, which is 24 hours, is 1300 EPA VIC (1300 372 842). So next time don’t look suspiciously at the dog, get on the phone.

It’s the little things that make a suburb feel like a proper place to live and we’ve just had one more of the little things that count added. We now have an Australian Post letter box at the shopping centre. No more drives in to Deer Park just to post a letter.
Now all we need is a proper cafe.

Some time last year I rang our local papers to ask why they weren’t delivered. I was told that because we were a new area there wasn’t enough population to warrant delivery and that I could always go online to read them. I know local rags aren’t exactly The Age but I do think they serve a purpose for community based news. I let it go and never logged on to the sites, as much as I love my tech I still can’t come at reading papers online.
Imagine my surprise then this morning when I went out to collect the catalogues only to find the first edition of The Brimbank Leader to be delivered to out letterbox. Thank you News Ltd for deciding Derrimut, at least the Brimbank Gardens area, is finally suburb enough to have your paper delivered. It may be a two coffee morning this morning.

Okay, so everyone knows that Windsor Boulevard has been completed for a few years now but Google has only just caught up. Yes, finally, Google Maps has been updated and Derrimut is looking a lot better. The newer estates are in place, although some road names appear to be missing, Windsor Boulevard finally reaches Robinsons Rd and Middle Rd has finally been removed. Now we just have to wait for them to update street view.
